Because I am a lover of Tall Ships and Lighthouses, I love your quilt.  I had never thought of combining panels, etc in the way you did.  Know you will enjoy using it when you get it back finished!

Thanks! I love lighthouses too. My husband was a towboat pilot on the Green and Ohio Rivers in KY. So we connect with the water a lot.

I got the quilt back from the LAQ yesterday! Now I need to trim it, make a binding and bind it!

Your quilt is beautiful.  It probably looks even better now that it is quilted.  I don't know much about sailing, boats etc., but the patches you used in middle of the bottom and top look like signal flags.  It gives me an idea for some of the panels I have in my stash.

I found a book a few weeks ago that encourages the use of panels and large motive fabrics.  It uses nine patches that dance though the quilt or blend like a water color quilt without all the work.  "9-Patch Pizzazz" by Judy Sisneros.  Her ideas give movement throughout the quilt like yours does.

That is a BEAUTIFUL Quilt. I absolutely love it. My grandparents like Lighthouses and Boats. Once I get my father's quilt done, I will post it on here. Its of Bears. That will be my next thing to Finish after the quilts for my Grandparents are done.

Oh my gosh Abbigail, that is really, really beautiful.  Any chance we can see a pic of the finished product?  How did you come up with the idea?  I agree that the patches in the middle and each end look like signal flags.   Absolutely beautiful!!!

    WOW! Abbigail,

This is a 'take your breath away' quilt top.  I love your use of the shoreline panels too. . . Everything about it is so. . .I don't know; together! The red borders are Wow too! I love red. The whole nautical thing, sails in the wind and the sentinal lighthouses really grab me.  This is my kind of quilt.   Congrats on an exceptional project!
